Norman's Principles

What are Norman's Principles?

Norman’s Principles are guidelines to make a good usability design. There are six principles to consider discussed in the following paragraphs.

            Visibility will navigate user what to do next. In the other way, when functions are out of sign it will difficult to find and how to use.

            Feedback is sending back information to user about what action has been done allow user to continue the action. There are many kinds of feedback such as audio, light, and verbal.

           Constraint is the design concept that refers the determining ways to limit users interaction. It makes user know how to use it.

            Mapping is a relationship between controls and their effects in the world. A good mapping will guide user how to use it.

            Consistency is designing interfaces that have similar operations and use similar elements for achieving similar tasks. Users don’t need to spend too much time to understand.

            Affordance is an outlook that refers to an attribute of an object, so it guides user how to use it.
